**Hire Me to Speak for You**

Looking for a speaker?

“Scott is a fantastic speaker. His presentations grab your attention from the very start, then keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire duration. Scott had an audience of B2B content marketers hanging on his every word. Scott’s presentation sparked so many ideas that the subsequent Q&A with audience members ran long. Being a good sport, Scott stayed until every last question was answered.”

Are you looking for a content marketing speaker?
(Or a speaker on marketing or other business-related topics?)

If you’re looking for someone who can come speak to your team or your audience about content marketing or marketing, and you’re looking for someone who can present topics in a unique, engaging, entertaining, and inspiring way, then contact me and let’s talk.

31 Years and Over 1,500 Times

I’ve been speaking since 1988. (I started when I was 19.)

I once tried to calculate how many times I’ve spoken and I figured out that it has to be at least 1,500 times.

(Although the majority of those were talks that were outside of the content marketing, marketing, and business arena.)

You know, it’s funny.

In the content marketing, marketing, and business arena I’ve mainly been known for my writing. (You can see some of my articles and testimonials about my writing below.)

It’s funny because one of my greatest gifts is speaking
(Although up until I was 19, it was my greatest fear, which I gladly avoided. But that’s a whole other story!)

In recent years (since 2012), I have been teaching about social media, marketing, and content marketing related topics and I have been brought in to teach workshops for organizations, authors, small business owners, and B2B marketers.

In my role as a marketing instructor for UC Berkeley Extension, I’ve taught direct marketing, digital marketing, and content marketing concepts and methods to students from companies such as Google, Oracle, PayPal, the biotech industry, the non-profit arena, and other fields.

In the past, I was juggling writing and many other things, so I didn’t focus on speaking in the past. But I began thinking about this “funny” situation and I realized something…

I don’t think you’ll be able to find anyone who has as much experience speaking as I do and who also has my content marketing and marketing knowledge. (You might be able to find someone who has one or the other, but not both.)

That’s why I’m offering myself as a speaker to a select, limited number of organizations, conferences, and companies who are interested. (I am doing too many things to speak for anyone or everyone who asks, so I need to be picky.)

I also have decided to offer my services at a mid-range rate for the first organizations who book me to speak and teach for them. (Again, I am doing too many things to make it worth my time to speak at lower rates.)

I am sure I will raise this rate at some point, but I thought this was a fair level for now.

If you think you might be interested, then you’ll want to keep reading and see what others have said about my ability to speak and hold an audience’s attention, my ability to present information in a unique way, and the results some have received from applying what I have taught them.

Scott Aughtmon is a dynamic and experienced instructor who I brought to VA Palo Alto to coach our people on the history and use of social media tools – something I called Social Media 101.”

Scott spent much time with me working through and customizing the material to meet the needs of our staff.

“Scott brought his unique experience and perspective to these workshops enabling us to leverage
the information on this highly sought-after topic, presented in an exceptional application-driven format, for immediate use in the health care system.

“Scott trained/coached employees at both our Palo Alto and Menlo Park facilities and the feedback was tremendous.  I plan to have him back regularly.

I highly recommend Scott as a trainer and coach on this and other topics he offers.  He brings a unique passion and perspective to the workshops he leads and people really respond to him.”

Scott Aughtmon is one of the most engaging speakers I’ve heard.  Not only is he informative, but the information is presented in a way that helps you understand every piece of it, even if it’s complex.  I’d highly recommend him for any workshop looking to enhance their marketing topics.

Endorsements About Scott’s Unique Perspective and Ability to Present Engaging Information

“Scott has consistently been one of our top authors at the Content Marketing Institute. His posts are timely, fact-driven and almost always drive a high-level of discussion. Scott’s “21 Types of Content We Crave” infographic post on CMI was one of our most popular posts of the year!”

Some Unique Topics That I Can Speak On

These topics below are some specific ones that you might find unique and helpful…

31 Types of Content We Crave
(Approx. 90 minutes, including Q & A at the end)

This talk is based off of my extremely popular post and infographic that I originally posted on ContentMarketingInstitute.com.

Here are some of the things I will teach during this talk:

  • The main barrier that is keeping your audience from ever getting your message (a neurological reason your content is ignored)
  • How to break through that barrier
  • The 31 types of content that everyone craves
  • 3 famous people who have used the methods I teach you and have become successful from it
  • How to use these 21 types of content to spice up your content, so you can create content that is in engagingmemorable, and influential
  • The exact process I use to create engaging content (I take you step-by-step through my process)

All that to say…

I’ll reveal to you little-known methods influential content creators use to craft content that is powerful and effective.

Here are a couple testimonials about my “21 Types of Content We Crave” talk:

Scott is an engaging speaker and storyteller who wowed our B2B content marketing Meetup. His “Content We Crave” presentation cleverly demonstrated the 21 content types in action, and we gained pragmatic tips and ideas through a fun and memorable experience.”

Rich Schwerin, Digital Content Strategist, Silicon Valley

The title of Scott’s presentation, ‘21 Types of Content We Crave,’ was completely misleading, and that’s a good thing. For most audiences, the phrase ‘types of content’ denotes the different content assets: data sheets, white papers, infographics, news releases, etc. Currently, there are many content experts who talk about content strategy and content assets – talks that have become content cliché. Scott’s presentation, on the other hand, was about the different emotional triggers that content should elicit and evoke – a truly brilliant and novel approach.”

The Greatest Content Marketing Hacks from History, TV, Movies, and Popular Products
(Approx. 90 minutes, including Q & A at the end)

This is based off of my 5-star book 51 Content Marketing Hacks, which has been given great reviews by top experts.

Here are some of the things I will teach during this talk:

  • Online content was once a rare thing, but now it has become a commodity. You can’t just post any-old, average content anymore and expect to see results.
  • But that DOESN’T mean that content marketing and content creation are a waste of time. In fact, I would say it’s needed more than ever.
  • The good news is that even though content is now a commodity, unique content is in demand more than ever.
  • In fact, I’d say that if you’re going to create content, then it has to be original. It has to stand out.  Otherwise it’s a waste of time.
  • But if your content is engaging and original, then you will stand out from the pack and you will build a valuable audience made up of  prospects and customers.
  • You’ll go from chasing prospects to attracting them to you, your business, or organization.
  • I will reveal how you can tap into the amazing power of content marketing using successful methods that have been used in history, televisionpopular products, and more.
  • I will choose a number of these “hacks” and show your audience how they can apply them in their unique situations.

The 5 Step Content Strategy Rodale Inc. Used to Become the World’s Largest Health & Wellness Media Co.
(Approx. 90 minutes, including Q & A at the end)

This talk is based off of another post I did for ContentMarketingInstitute.com.

Here are some of the things I will teach during this talk:

  • 2 reasons why a magazine exists
  • Rodale’s amazing success story
  • What I’ve determined to be Rodale Inc.’s 5-step content marketing strategy: use content creation to gather a specific audience, why you need to focus on subscribers not readers, why you must channel existing desires, why you need to create multiple solutions, and why/how to use “content selling
  • 5 key questions to get you started

5 Ways to Make Your Content Marketing More Memorable
(Approx. 90 minutes, including Q & A at the end)

This is another talk based on a popular post I wrote ContentMarketingInstitute.com.

Here are some of the things I will teach during this talk:

  • The real reason you’re not more successful could be something as simple as this: They don’t remember you.
  • The tragedy that spawned history’s greatest memory technique
  • When you realize that one of the biggest problems your business faces may just be a memory problem, then you will understand that your most important task in business is to become more memorable.
  • The techniques that memory athletes use that I learned from Joshua Foer called Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything.
  • How you can apply these techniques to your content creation.
  • 5 powerful ways to create content that’s memorable

A Power, Unique Way to Combine Content Creation and Curation to Create Content People Love and Love to Share

This post is based off a post I did here called The Powerful, Unique Way Neil Patel Uses Content Curation to Create Irresistible, Viral Blog Posts.

Here are some of the things I will teach during this talk:

  • Neil Patel’s unique method of using content creation to create irresistible, viral blog posts
  • How Reader’s Digest was started using content curation
  • 4 of his best content curation “tricks”
  • 4 tools you can use to help you with content curation
  • How to use content curation in an ethical way
  • How it can bring you more traffic, better ranking, and better connections in your niche
  • I will teach what I’ve learned from applying his methods
  • A tweak to his method that I am going to test

Endorsements About Scott’s Speaking

I found this workshop valuable for me because being a ‘baby boomer’, it helped me understand the different applications used to keep in touch with anyone and everyone.

“I remember being afraid of Facebook and my privacy only to learn that I could control the security settings. I’m glad to be a Facebook convert and to be able to keep in touch with family and businesses all over the United States.

“…I thought you led the workshop very well and explained things thoroughly.”

Thank you,

Do I offer discounts?

I would consider offering the lower of the rates above or a discounted rate for the following reasons:

  • I do more than one talk or program per event
  • I am asked to do multiple events for the same client or company
  • Possibly for a trade of goods or services
  • If you are a non-profit
  • If you purchase a significant number of my products or services for yourself (or for the attendees)
  • The audience or organization is a small one

Free Speaking Opportunities?

There might be the rare occasion where I would be willing to speak for free.

(*Lodging, transportation and meals would still need to be covered, but my speaking fee would be waived.)

It would depend on at least some of the following criteria:

  1. No other speaker is getting paid
  2. There are a large number of potential clients in the audience
  3. The location is a fun, interesting, or an exotic place I want to go anyway
  4. If I had the availability
  5. It is for a charity I really resonate with

If you’re unsure if any of the above criteria applies to you, then contact me.
(It never hurts to ask!)
