Why “Just Try Harder” Doesn’t Always Work

I recently watched one of my sons play a losing game of “Capture The Flag” with his friends.

I offered advice, but they just wanted to try harder.

And so they did.  And continued losing.

I offered advice and again they refused it.
They continued trying harder and losing.

Finally they said, “Ok what was your advice?”

I gave them a new strategy and some new techniques and they finally began to stop the other team and gain points, but they ran out of time and they still lost.

This caused me to think…

“Just try harder,” doesn’t always work. Sometimes you need a new strategy.

This is true in life in general, applies to marketing, and reminds me too much of my own life many times.

My advice for you (and myself) today is this:
Don’t play the game of life (or business) too long before you realize you need try a different strategy.
