Saturday 6/9/11 – Mind Dump

These are the random thoughts flowing through my mind and some of the interesting things I’ve read online recently:

  • This week has been crazy busy.  My youngest son graduated from kindergarten on Wednesday.
  • I decided to release my first infographic The Content Marketer’s Essential Guide To: The 21 Types Of Content We All Crave.”
  • But, instead of posting it first here, I decided to see if ContentMarketingInstitute.com wanted to post it and they did.  You can see it here.
  • Because of this choice, it’s been tweeted 290 times (as of this time on Sat. morning) and I’ve been “pinned” on Pinterest for the first time.  🙂
  • That choice has also allowed me the honor of being mentioned on Robert Bruce’s list “7 Content Marketing Links You Shouldn’t Skip” over at Copyblogger.com.  (I say it’s an honor, because I always LOVE reading this list on Copyblogger.  If you’ve never read it, you should.  It regularly features great content from around the internet.)  Thanks again, Robert.
  • And do you know what the most surprising thing for me is about this?  This post has now become my most popular post on ContentMarketingInstitute.com (see it compared to my others here).  Why is that surprising?  It took my much less time to create it!
  • 2 Lessons From This: 1) Graphics are really popular nowadays.  The next time you are thinking about creating some content, think about how you can display it graphically.
    2) Keeping all of your content contained only on your site might SEEM like a good idea, but it’s not.  Sharing your content on other sites could take your content to a whole new level.  Check out Jeff Goins great post to learn more: “How Guest Posting Can Help Grow Your Blog”
  • Not only did my son graduate and I release my first infographic, but I officially launched a new site for business owners in the San Francisco Bay Area.  You can see it here if you’re interested: http://www.BayBusinessHelp.com.
  • It’s a hybrid site that features curated content from top sites around the internet and created content written just for BayBusinessHelp.com.  (I currently have 4 local experts on board to write for BBH.)
  • You can see the first “expert post” by Thomas Petty here: 3 Ways Your Website Can Help – Or Hinder – Your Customers.”  (Thanks again, Tom.)
  • If you haven’t harnessed the power of curated content, you really should think about doing this right away.  If you’re looking for an awesome book on content curation, then check this one.
  • Did you catch the AT&T ad that ran during the season finale of Touch?  It was a teaser about a new online series called Daybreak.  Do you realize what this is!?!  It’s content marketing.  Why do I say it’s content marketing?  Because the series will feature AT&T’s products and services like HTC One X phone, Air Graffiti, etc.  I don’t know how it will do, but this shows how serious major corporations are about content marketing.  If they realize the importance of content marketing, shouldn’t you?  Read more about Daybreak here.
  • That’s all the rambling for now.  Have a good rest of the weekend.
